  Capture-to-Go™

 Laptops with Special Configurations

  • For laptops (Windows 98-SE or Windows ME) with either ATI Mobility or Neomagic 256ZX chipset:
We recommend to use our WDM-based driver instead of the VFW-based driver that is shipped in the CD. [ download ]
  • COMPAQ Armada 7800 upgrading to Windows 98 and NOT getting audio:
Download the latest Windows 98 ESS audio (ES1879) driver from www.compaq.com COMPAQ web-site. Run the SETUP.EXE to update your audio driver.
  • TOSHIBA Protege 3000 Series, 7000 Series and Tecra 8000:
DO NOT have Zoomed Video (ZV) capability --- ZV bus is on the system, it is just not enabled on the PCMCIA slots. With DVD-to-Go PC card, the video can be outputting to the TV using connector (dongle).

 VFW-based : Error Messages

Error #2 "Unable to create VPM provider [xxxxVPM.DLL], Invalid VPM version. Unable to load MARGIVPM.DLL [-27] or MARGIVPM.105 [-2]".
Solution: The version of Video driver does not fully support the Zoomed Video port. The updated version of the VGA driver can be obtained by contacting your notebook manufacturer or the video controller manufacturer. The best way to do this is to go to their Web sites and download their drivers.

Error #3 "Unable to load C:\Margi\Dvdtogo\Margivpm.dll Error [-3].".
Solution:
1- From the Control Panel, go into Display.
2- Select Settings.
3- Click on the Advanced button.
4- Select Performance.
5- Change Hardware acceleration from NONE to FULL.

Error #10 "Unable to create VPM stream VPM Error [-10], Insufficient frame buffer memory. Try reducing the display pixel depth or the display resolution".
Solution: This is due to the limitation on the memory buffer available on your notebook for the video to playback. The best thing to do is to free up some memory buffer by reducing the window desktop setting (resolution and color mode).

Error #261 "Unable to load C:\MARGI\DVDTOGO\MARGIVPM.DLL [Error= -261]".
Solution: The VPM (Video Port Manager) driver is not loaded or an OLDER version which is not compatible with our current drivers. Please contact the notebook manufacturer or the display adapter's web site for the latest driver. For notebooks with the following display adapter:
1) Chips & Technologies: Can be obtained by logging into http://www.chips.com

2) Neomagic: Need to contact the notebook manufacturer.
3) Trident: There should be two drivers (display and VPM/AVI) in either the CD-ROM or from the notebook manufacturer.
4) S3: Need to contact the notebook manufacturer.

Error #262 "Unable to load hardware driver. MMSYSTEM262 There is a problem with your media device. Make sure it is working properly or contact the device manufacturer.".
Solution: The error message indicates the MARGI DVD-to-Go Card (hardware device) is not configured correctly.¾ It is recommended to REMOVE the MARGI-Systems_DVD-decoder device in either "(?) Other devices" or "Sound, video and game Controllers".
1- From the Control Panel, go into System Properties.
2- Go into the Device Manager and search for MARGI-Systems_DVD-decoder device.¾ This should appear either under (?) Other devices or Sound, video and game Controllers.
3- Click on the device and choose REMOVE.
4- Click on REFRESH button for Windows 95/98 to locate the device again.
5- Browse into the location of the MARGI installation disk so that the file (MARGIPNP.VXD) can be located.

Unable to load the Video Capture Driver: This is a known BUG in our current version 1.18 version.
Solution: Simply uninstall the Capture-to-Go driver and reinstall it by choosing the "default" location (C:\Video\Vidcap) for the drivers.

WDM-based : Symptom, Possible Cause, Corrective Action

Cannot render preview pin of capture driver in preview.
Solution: The problem is relating to the communication between the MARGI Capture driver to the Overlay Mixer, or the Video Render to the Overlay Mixer. We can only recommend to obtain the latest MARGI WDM-based driver and also the latest display adapter driver.
