PC Conversion Software

On which operating systems will the Presenter-to-Go PC software work?
The Presenter-to-Go PC software may be used on PCs running Win 98, Win 98SE, Win ME, Win 2000, Win XP, Win NT4, Mac OS 8.5 thru 9.2 and OSX v10.2.2 thru v10.2.6.

Can I see what my presentation looks like before I Sync it into the handheld?
Yes, use the "View" button to review your presentation prior to pressing the "Queue" or "Transfer" button for Sync.

What features in PowerPoint are not supported by Presenter-to-Go?
Neither the Palm nor the Pocket PC versions of our product support sound or embedded video. The Pocket PC version supports many animations and transitions.

When I press the Presenter-to-Go icon in PowerPoint, will it automatically pick up the names of each slide and the presenter notes for each slide?
Yes.

Handheld Software

Will I get color slides, even if my handheld is a Black and White display model? Yes, color presentations may be made from any compatible device, regardless of whether the handheld LCD can support color.

How much space do slide presentations take?
That depends on the complexity of the slide. The Presenter-to-Go PC software is optimized for use with presentations that are mainly text and charts or graphs. Presentations of this nature should compress by about 65% or more. Presentations that contain photographic images, especially jpeg images that cover more than 60% of the slide area, may actually convert to a .pdb file that is larger than the original .ppt file. This is due to the nature of the conversion process, which was developed to function within the limitations of the handheld's processor. The "slide master" feature in the latest Pocket PC release will ensure more consistent compression. Slides may be stored in the handheld's memory or a memory card.

Can I display the contents of my handheld's screen?
Yes, using the MARGI Mirror Application.

Hardware

What is the range of the remote control?
The remote will work up to 10-12 feet from the handheld, using the IR port integrated into our cards. The Presenter-to-Go PC card must rely on the handheld's IR window and this must be pointed in the direction of the user with the remote control. Not all handhelds support IR, without this support, the remote won't work with your handheld.

How long can I present before my handheld battery dies?
You may run a presentation on your Pocket PC for 3.5 hours before your handheld battery dies. Palm devices can run for about 80 minutes before they die. Using the AC Adapter included in our Palm versions extends presentation time to about 3.5 hours. For long presentations, our suggestion is to use the handheld's travel charger. They are relatively cheap to purchase and provide for indefinite presentation lengths.

Do I need an A/C adapter to use Presenter-to-Go?
No, presentations may run off the handheld's battery for about 3.5 hours.

Troubleshooting

Presenter-to-Go fails while converting a presentation?
There is a slide in the presentation that our program is having trouble converting. Please run the conversion again, and look in the status bar at the bottom. You should see a printer icon, with the page numbers changing. Please make a note of which page it hangs on, and make a copy of the presentation deleting that page. You may have to do this a few times to find out exactly what page it is crashing on. Then you can recreate that slide or disable any custom animations or transitions present. Our next major release will have an enhanced level of support for animations/transitions.

My presentations/application do not seem to be hotsynced?
Please verify that

1. You are not running Palm Desktop v4 on the Mac. Please downgrade to v2.x until we resolve this issue. Palm Desktop for Macintosh
2. You are selecting the same user as is on the Palm that you are syncing with.

I cannot sync the Presentation across on a Mac - no users available?
We currently do not support Palm Desktop v4.x for the Mac. Please downgrade to a prior version using this link. Palm Desktop for Macintosh If you cannot downgrade, please follow these steps.

2. Navigate to the "Queue" folder.
3. Your converted presentation is present here with an extension of "PDB"
4. Drag this over to your Palm using the Palm Desktop's install tool.

My projector keeps giving me the following message "Perfecting the image. Please Wait"?
When you are connected to the projector, and the program is running, please click on the blue card/box icon. For Pocket PC check the box that says Use Manual settings and change to 1024 x 768 resolution and 60Hz refresh rate. For Palm, please make the same selections using the drop down menu.

If you want to run Mirror, please run the Mirror application, click on the blue card/box and run the steps outlined above.

There are borders/bars around my slides?
This is because the Page is not set to set to Letter or 8.5" x 11". Please make the requisite change in the Page Setup of PowerPoint.

I get blank slides OR I can see the slide list but nothing shows up on the screen?
Please make sure that you check the Palm Compatibility option, and uncheck Animations/Master Slide

My presentation is full-screen on the PDA, but is very small when viewed on a monitor/projector?
This error occurs because you have an incorrect version of the Presenter-to-Go software installed. Please follow this procedure to reinstall the correct version.
1. Please uninstall it from your Desktop.
2. Please uninstall both Presenter & Mirror from your CLIE.
3. Restart your system.
4. Verify PowerPoint is not running, and the Memory Stick is NOT inserted.
5. Install the Presenter-to-Go software from the MARGI software CD that came with the card and not the SONY CD.
6. Use Start > Programs >MARGI >Presenter-to-Go and then Install to put the software on your CLIE.

Now when you click the M icon in PowerPoint, you should get a dialog box with options to choose resolution etc.

Why is my remote not responding?
If the Pocket PC device is connected to the desktop by ActiveSync, the application cannot open the IRport to listen to remote control key strokes. As a result, applications would not respond to a remote. Disconnect the device and then try the Remote control again.

Sometimes my remote skips slides. How can I prevent that?
If you have a Presenter-to-Go card with a bulb on top of the card, please follow these steps.
1. Open File Explorer on your Pocket PC Start > Programs > File Explorer
