| I have just
upgraded my notebook from Win95 to Win98 operating system,
I could no longer hear the audio since it used to work under
Win95. |
The current
audio driver (WDM) that comes with Win98 CD does not receive
audio stream from the decoder. |
A quick solution
is to load the Win95 audio driver from either the OEM's CD-ROM
(usually comes with the notebook) or download the latest driver
from the audio adapter's web site. |
| The video
playback is OK but there is NO audio coming out from my notebook.
|
Since the DVD-to-Go
PC card is capabling of sending digital audio format into
your notebook, it is necessary for the I2S or Zoomed Video
option to be enable in order to take advantage the great sound.
|
Double-click
the yellow speaker icon on the taskbar (mostly located on
the right hand side of the screen) to take you into the Volume
Control Properties. Go to Options tab and choose Properties.
Under "Show the Following Volume Control dialog box, ensure
that the I2S, AuxB or Zoomed Video is check. |
| The video
plays fine in my notebook display but when I try to output
the video out to my television set, I don't get anything.
|
The Video Output
option is Disable as the Default setting after the installation
of our DVD-to-Go drivers. |
While the DVD
title is playing back, choose the SETUP MENU button to take
you to MPEG Properties List Menu and to Video Control Menu.
Choose the appropriate output source, either S-Video or Composite,
for your video output. |
| (1) The
video displayed on the screen is mixed with green and magenta
colors.
(2) No video or audio. Get a solid black screen. |
The DVD-to-Go
Card is NOT plugged into a Zoomed Video (ZV) enabled slot.
|
Ensure that
the card is inserted into a Zoomed Video Enabled slot (usually
the bottom slot). Please refer to the notebook manual
for more information. |
| The video
and audio playback are not smooth on certain parts of DVD
titles. The DVD movie starts to stutter when there is a lot
of sound and action simultaneously. |
1) The PC Card
portable DVD-ROM drive is not able to push the HIGH peak bit
streams encoded on the DVD Title from the drive to the notebook
system.÷ Therefore our decoder is being starved of the data,
causing the video and audio to become stutter in places where
the bit stream is encoded at a higher rate.÷ DVD-to-Go PC
card itself works flawlessly with internal DVD-ROM drives
or SCSI CardBus Card portable DVD-ROM drives. |
1) Please contact
your portable DVD-ROM drive manufacturer for any updated driver
to support higher bit-rate. |
| |
2) The DMA
transfer not enabled. Keep in mind that SOME notebooks do
not have this option available. |
2) Enable the
DMA transfer on DVD-ROM by opening SYSTEM under CONTROL PANEL,
click the Device Manager tab and double-click the CD-ROM icon.
Select the DVD-ROM and select Properties. Under the SETTINGS
tab, check the DMA option. Note: The system
will restart after the setting is made. Insure that all applications
have been closed. |
| |
3) The Cache
memory is not being set to max size. |
3) Enable the
Cache at full setting by opening SYSTEM under CONTROL PANEL,
click the PERFORMANCE tab and choose FILE SYSTEM under Advanced
Settings. Click the CD-ROM tab, then set Supplemental Cache
Size to LARGE (right most on the ruler) and Optimize access
pattern for QUAD SPEED OR HIGHER. |
| The error
message 'Unable to initialize VPM provider. No VPM= entry
in SYSTEM.INI' appears after launching the DVD Player.
|
Notebook that
comes with TRIDENT display adapter does not have the VPM driver
pre-loaded from its manufacturer. |
Contact your
notebook's Technical Support line to obtain the latest VPM
/ AVI driver (Note: This is additional driver to your preinstalled
display driver) |
| Output to
the TV with bright to dark and back again. |
You are experiencing
the problems introduced because the TV out has Macrovision
Anticopy provisions implemented as recommended in the DVD
specifications. Therefore the Macrovision Anticopy is causing
your brightness to go up and down. Any DVD player that is
approved for sale will have this provision. |
It is recommended
to use the video output directly into your TV instead of going
through a VCR. |
